Help students build advanced academic vocabulary through meaningful, context-based practice, not isolated definitions and memorization.
Advanced Vocabulary, Words in Context: Packet 1 provides nine weeks of focused vocabulary instruction for students in grades 7 and up. Weeks 1–8 introduce 80 high-utility academic words, while Week 9 provides cumulative review and assessment.
Each week follows the same predictable five-day structure, with activities designed to take approximately 10 minutes per day. Students examine roots and word origins, distinguish between multiple meanings, use context clues, analyze vocabulary in short passages, and apply new words in their own writing.
The vocabulary was selected using official college-entrance practice materials, the Academic Word List, and published vocabulary-frequency research. The program is designed to support students preparing for the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, ACT, and other advanced reading tasks.
